‘Subspace’ draws parallels between the archetypal BDSM Master/slave (M/s) relationship and that which exists between photographer, camera, and subject - questioning who has agency.

I use the self-portrait to explore ideas of who I am. It allows me to be both photographer and subject, enabling full control over the work, its creation, and its exhibition in public. 

Ultimately, it is the submissive partner who has agency. I demonstrate this in my bedroom by performing for the camera as if it were my Master.

With this, I propose that this power dynamic can be applied to portraiture.
